Nokia will launch its E7 phone in December

TWEETING THE NEWS, Nokia has told the world that it will launch its E7 business smartphone with a slider keyboard in December.

The Nokia E7 was very much the darling of Nokia World in September and the Finnish phone firm described it back then, unsurprisingly, as the "ultimate business smartphone". At the time Nokia told the media it would launch the E7 in the fourth quarter.

The E7 smartphone has a 4-inch AMOLED 640x360 capacitive touchscreen, an anodised aluminium chassis and an 8MP camera with dual LED flash. That camera can record HD 720p video and a second VGA front facing camera can be used for video calls.

The E7's operating system is Symbian^3, it has 16GB of internal storage, a g-sensor, compass, proximity sensor and ambient light detector. It has 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0, and its ports include HDMI, microUSB 2.0 and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Former Nokia mobile solutions VP Anssi Vanjoki said of the E7's Clearblack display technology at Nokia World, "its black is blacker than black." Great line, but he has since left the company.

The E7 has Ovi Maps with free lifetime navigation and voice guidance. With the help of Microsoft Exchange Activesync it can receive emails from up to 10 personal accounts. It can also create and share Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint documents and has access to apps from the OviStore.
At Nokia World the estimated Eurozone retail price was €495, excluding taxes and subsidies, but no UK price was available.
